Description:
There are so many strict rules when to comes to what you can and can’t travel with. The rules are constantly changing depending on the national security level and how safe everyone feels.
In this day and age, one can’t just waltzed through places like airports and public buildings anymore. Because of people who wish to do others harm, and have succeeded in their attempts, we now have strict security protocols, all for the purpose of keeping us safer. Of course, some of the rules are a bit of a pain because some of the simplest items are no longer allowed on airplanes like tweezers. Not to mention too that your privacy is pretty much violated thanks to bag checks and personal pat downs that feel more like a cavity search. The Transportation Security Administration of the United States is certainly busy these days and have to stay on top of their game at all times while on the clock. TSA confiscates thousands of items each week from weapons to drugs to accidental items like large shampoo bottles. But there are some pretty interesting items that have been found in bags from passengers.
The people in this video didn’t let the strict security rules stop them from trying to smuggle some of the craziest things through security. From dead bodies to marijuana-stuffed grenades, you have to tip your hat to the creativity of these individuals in their smuggling pursuits. One of the craziest things smuggled through security was an actual dead body. The 91-year old deceased man was even checked into a flight, traveling from Liverpool to Berlin. He was accompanied by his wife and step-daughter, who put the man in a wheelchair with sunglasses on and everything. When security discovered that the man was dead, they questioned the wife who stated that she thought her husband was just pale and sleeping. It probably looked like a bad scene from the movie, “Weekend at Bernie’s”.
Body parts are more popular than they should when it comes to security checkpoints. While it can be assumed that the person carrying the body part may be mentally unstable or even a murderer, sometimes the country from where the traveler is coming from is partly responsible. For example, in 2006, a Voodoo priestess by the name of Myrlene Sevre was stopped in the Fort Lauderdale airport after customs found a human skull of an African American man on her return trip from Haiti. Sevre told officials that the skull was over a year old, and was planning to use it for religious reasons. Since traveling body parts must have a death certificate, the skull was confiscated and Sevre was sentenced to two years of probation and had to pay a $1,000 fine.
Other items included in this list are severed animal heads, a medieval mace, gun parts in stuffed animals, marijuana stuffed in a grenade, historical statues that are over 2,000 years old, and Batman throwing stars. It seems that no matter what the rules are, there will always be someone out there trying to break the rules without consequences in mind.
