Another hot spot I found to throw the big cast net for some large wild golden shiners. I found this honey hole while fishing in my boat, there were hundreds of shiners all around this area. I wasn't sure if I could reach them from shore though because of the thick weed edge, however, I was able to chum the shiners in pretty close and launch the net out beyond the weed line to catch a bunch.
Some of these baits were right at 12" but most were in the 9"-10" range. I have caught golden shiners up to 16" in the past (which looked like a small carp lol) but usually only use them up to 12" or so when fishing for big bass. Sometimes I will use the larger ones to catch snook & tarpon in freshwater or brackish water. Unfortunately shiners cannot be used as bait in saltwater because they will not survive long. Occasionally I am able to find big shad to use as well. Those also work great for big bass, snook & tarpon.
My fishing videos offer clean , wholesome viewing for kids and children of all ages so the whole family can enjoy them without fear of foul language or offensive material :)
Filmed with a Sony HD camera at 60fps & 28mbps. Slow motion is 1x slowed down.
