Carrey plays the role of down-on-his-luck television news field reporter Bruce Nolan, who, after being disappointed in all the shitty luck that God has thrown at him, challenges God and his abilities to make nice things happen to good people. God (played by Morgan Freeman) answers Bruce's challenge, giving him abilities of omnipotence and omniscience for one week, and hilarity ensues.
