It's amazing what you can get off the FREE section of the classified ads! With a little ambition, someone's junk can be a goldmine of opportunity!

I originally got this organ for harvesting project parts, but then I had a change of heart.

Project Inspired By:

This was a "King of Random" original. I really did find this organ on the classifieds for free, and this was simply my experience with it.

WARNING:

There are risks associated with this project that requires adult supervision. Strong caution and experience is recommend before opening up any electrical power controlling unit. Make sure electrical devices are unplugged before opening, and even still, capacitors may have stored electrical charge that could prove fatal if mishandled. Use of video content is at own risk.

Project History & More Info:

I was surfing through the classified ads one day, and saw someone was giving away an organ for FREE. I called them up and they said it didn't work, but I didn't mind because I was just thinking I could use it for parts anyway.

The organ had 18” speakers, and loads of electrical components that would be great to hack into other projects.
When I got the organ home, I took it apart and checked the fuse inside to see if it was ok.

The fuse was blown, but I happened to have a very similar fuse in my spare parts drawer, so I tried replacing it, and was amazed that when I turned the organ on, it worked just fine!

With a perfectly working organ, I couldn't bring myself to hack it apart, so I left it set up for 3 months in our living room, where the kids played with it nearly every day.

When the kids enthusiasm wore off and they didn't play with it anymore, my wife and I decided we could donate it to charity, because it would funny to say that we've donated an organ to charity.

I don't ever know what happened to that organ, but I hope it went to a good home, with kids that appreciated it as much as mine did for those 3 months.
